The Event

Walk 4 Water is an event hosted by Prairie Oak Community Church to raise awareness and funding for providing clean water sources for people in need in Haiti and Africa.

water-spout-smEvery day, millions of people around the world are forced to journey several miles in search of water.  Without access to clean water in their immediate environment, it falls largely to women and children to journey to the nearest river or ground water hole.  Often that water is infected with disease, parasites and malaria-carrying mosquitoes.  We want to do something about this.

Our goal is to change TWO communities.  First, the community that will receive wells due to this event. Second, we hope it will change our own community.  It’s easy to become isolated and focus on ourselves and our needs, and think there’s nothing we can do.  By rallying together, we CAN make a difference in the lives of others – and it changes our hearts and minds as well.

The 9th Annual Walk 4 Water

For the past 9 years this event has been held in Andover, MN and has raised over $40,000 to build wells for needy communities around the world. This year, we are excited to bring Walk 4 Water to Beacon of Hope Church in Minneapolis.

On Tuesday, July 24 at 6:30pm we will gather for a new walk at Beacon of Hope Church in Minneapolis. A $10 suggested donation will help raise money for safe drinking water in a new community. Together we will walk 1 mile and in this small way, we can make a real difference in the lives of those in need while experiencing just a small example of the challenge they live with every day.

$10 per person, payable at the event ($15 in advance if you would like a t-shirt)

Together, we can make a difference and change lives in two communities!
